The Big Bang Theory and Stuart Bloom

Lately, I’ve been watching The Big Bang Theory, and while it’s undeniably funny and clever, I can’t help but notice how much of its humor borders on cruelty; particularly in its treatment of characters like Raj and Stuart Bloom, the comic shop worker.
Stuart, in particular, is portrayed as a character struggling with extreme loneliness, depression, anxiety, and social rejection. These are serious issues, yet the show frequently reduces them to punchlines, making him the butt of the joke. What’s most troubling is that none of the main characters; who themselves know what it’s like to be social outcasts; ever offer him genuine support. Instead, they mock and ridicule him, choosing to turn a blind eye to his suffering.
One especially disturbing example is an episode where Stuart casually mentions having tried to throw himself off a bridge; a clear cry for help. Rather than addressing this with any sensitivity, the group dismisses it and immediately makes a joke of it. This moment isn’t just heartbreaking; it’s reflective of a broader societal tendency to ignore or trivialize the pain of others.
What strikes me most about this dynamic is how it mirrors a real-world issue: our collective reluctance to confront the suffering of others. Whether out of discomfort, fear, or apathy, it’s often easier to look away or laugh than to offer compassion and support. The show could have used these moments to showcase kindness, to address mental health struggles with empathy, or to encourage connection and understanding. Instead, it chose cruelty disguised as humor.
This isn’t to discredit the show entirely; it’s a good show in many ways, with sharp humor and cultural significance. But it missed an opportunity to balance its jokes with moments of humanity, to demonstrate that even in comedy, there is room for kindness. That’s what I find so disappointing: not the jokes themselves, but the lack of care for the very real issues it so often made light of.

Recollection Review

Recollection, developed by Erkberg Games, is a wonderfully crafted, short game that emphasizes the importance of cherishing the simple things in life. The game's bug-free performance and affordable price point make it an easy recommendation for anyone seeking a peaceful and relaxing experience. Whether you're taking a break from the chaos of your daily routine or simply looking to unwind, Recollection is a must-try title.

The Invincible Demo Review

Developed by Starward Industries and published by 11 bit studios, The Invincible can be described as "Firewatch on asteroids".
This is a huge statement, considering Firewatch is one my favourite games, although, from what I've seen in this demo, it's the correct statement.
The history is based on the book with the same name by Polish author StanisÅ‚aw Lem.
Regis III landscapes are just breathtaking. The vastness of it will immerse you into it's emptiness and desolation, as I imagine other planet should look like.
I tried the demo on Steam Deck, with settings between Low and Medium and it's performance varies from 8 to 46 fps, although since the game is not fully released I expect this to improve with time.
Absolute recommendation of a game, and one you should really keep an eye out.

The Shopping List Review

Developed by JordiBoi, The Shopping List is a short horror game, with a retro vibe feel to it. Albeit the short tag it might have, the game is filled with ambience, mystery and creepiness enough to keep on your toes thorough it's entirety. I decided to try it on Steam Deck and it runs amazingly. Absolute recommendation of a game.

Ghost At Dawn Review

Ghost At Dawn is an upcoming survival horror game developed by Blue and Red Games. With a fixed camera perspective, it harks back to classic titles like Fear Effect on PS1 and will be sure to please fans of Resident Evil and Silent Hill. The game promises to be tough and unforgiving, with a creepy and unsettling story that will keep players on the edge of their seats.
While Ghost At Dawn hasn't been released yet, you can get a taste of the action by playing the demo now, and be sure to add it to your wishlist. And if you're lucky enough to own a Steam Deck, you're in for a real treat: the game runs amazingly on this platform.

The Gap Review

The Gap, by MV JPL is an intense horror game that may be short in length, but is definitely not lacking in scares. With its affordable price tag, this game offers a chilling experience that's sure to keep you on edge. Throughout the game, you'll encounter surprising and terrifying moments that will leave a lasting impression. However, it's worth noting that the video quality may suffer from some frame drops, particularly when playing on a Steam Deck. Despite this minor issue, it is an absolute recommendation for fans of horror games looking for a quick and thrilling experience.

Lost Life: Origins / Act I Review

Lost Life, developed by Akio Kami, is an outstanding game that brings to mind the classic horror game Silent Hill, but with a modern twist. The game's graphics are simply astonishing, especially considering that it was created by a one-man studio. Lost Life incorporates a range of elements, including horror, survival, exploration, stealth, fighting, and third- and first-person views, all set in a mysterious world that has an outwardly dimension.
After being in development for six years, Akio's hard work has paid off, resulting in a game that is sure to make a mark on the gaming industry. I highly recommend this game, which is available on Itch.io and now on Steam. I played it on the Steam Deck, and it runs exceptionally well.
